John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? {20BC – 27AD. The Temple abuse had happened in just over a year of finishing the constructional re-building the Temple. The Temple was the centre-piece of Herodian Jerusalem. The Temple project started by King Herod the Great in 20BC was one that brought marvel to everyone who saw it. Even the disciples of Jesus made passing comments about the beauty and magnificence of the grandeur of the Temple (Matthew 24:1 ¶ Mark 13:1 ¶ And [as he] Jesus went out [of], and departed from the temple: and [one of] his disciples came to [him] for to show him the buildings of the temple [and] [saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings [are here]]).
