Moses, a Jew by birth, was born when Egyptians [gentiles] ruled the people of Israel [Exodus 1:08-10].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus, a Jew by birth, was born when Romans [gentiles] ruled the people of Israel [Luke 2:01-05].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2. An evil ruler, Pharaoh, decreed that all male Hebrew babies should be killed by casting them into the river [Exodus 1:22].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; An evil ruler, Herod, decreed that all male Hebrew babies should be put to death [[Matthew 2:16].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3. Moses was hidden in Egypt 3 months to keep him alive [Exodus 2:02].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus was also hidden in Egypt to keep him alive [Matthew 2:13].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>4. Moses\u2019 mother put him in the river in a basket [Exodus 2:03].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus\u2019s mother put Him in a MANGER feeding trough [Luke 2:07].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; [The word &#8220;manger&#8221; comes from the Latin word munducare which means &#8220;to eat.&#8221; A manger or crib is a wooden or stone feeding trough or food box that holds hay for larger farm animals like cattle, horses, and donkeys]<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>5. &#8220;Moses&#8221; means drawn out of water [Exodus 2:10]. Drawing out of water is a picture of salvation [Isaiah 12:03]. [Moses was Israel\u2019s vehicle of salvation].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus\u2019s name is Hebrew for &#8220;salvation&#8221; [Matthew 1:21].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>6. The favour of God was upon Moses, even as an infant. Pharaoh\u2019s daughter took him out of the river and he became a prince in Egypt [Exodus 2:05].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; The favour of God was upon Jesus. Wise men worshipped Him and presented gifts to Him [Matthew 2:11].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>7. Moses was brought up by a man who was not his natural father [Exodus 2:09-10].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus was brought up by his stepfather, Joseph [Luke 2:33].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>8. Moses, when grown, saw the burdens of his brethren and had compassion on them [Exodus 2:11].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus saw His people as sheep without a shepherd and had compassion on them [Mark 6:34].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>9. Moses, at a well, was kind to the daughters of the priest of Midian and watered their flock [not the usual custom] [Exodus 2:17].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus, at a well, was kind to a Samaritan woman and offered her water [not the usual custom] [John 4:9-11].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>10. Moses was in exile in a foreign land until the king of Egypt died [Exodus 2:23].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus was in exile in a foreign land until King Herod died [Matthew 2:19-20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>11. Moses was a shepherd of God\u2019s people [Psalm 77:20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus called Himself the &#8220;good shepherd&#8221; who came to lay down His life for the sheep [John 10:11-16].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>12. Moses began his ministry in a supernatural way. A bush burned with fire, but was not consumed, and God spoke from the midst of the bush [Exodus 3:2-4].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus began His ministry in a supernatural way. A dove descended on Him and a voice from Heaven said, &#8220;This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased&#8221; [Matthew 3:16-17].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>13. God sent Moses to deliver His people because He knew their sorrows [Exodus 3:07].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God sent Jesus to deliver His people because He knew their enslaved, broken-hearted state [Luke 4:18].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>14. Moses &#8220;came down&#8221; to deliver His people [Exodus 3:08] and to &#8220;bring them up to the Promised Land.&#8221;<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus came down from Heaven to deliver His people and to bring them up to heaven one day [Philippians 2:07-08].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>15. Moses was very humble, saying &#8220;Who am I?&#8221; [Exodus 3:11]. He was called &#8220;very meek&#8221; [Numbers 12:03].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus was &#8220;meek and lowly&#8221; calling all to find rest for their souls in Him [Matthew 11:28-30].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>16. Moses performed many public miracles following God\u2019s direction [Exodus 4:04-09].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus performed many public miracles following God\u2019s direction [John 5:19-20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>17. The reason behind Moses\u2019 liberation of the Hebrews was for them to serve God [Exodus 9:01].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; The reason behind Jesus\u2019s liberation of mankind is for us to serve God [Hebrews 9:14; 12:28].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>18. Moses delivered the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage through blood [Exodus 12:13, 23]. Lambs without blemish were slain. Their blood protected Hebrew homes from death.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus delivered all mankind from the bondage of sin through blood His blood, shed on the cross as The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. [John 1:29; Hebrews 9:11-15].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>19. Moses instructed Israel to remember the Lord\u2019s deliverance [Exodus 12:25-27] via a covenant meal [Passover].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus instructed His disciples [talmidim] to remember His deliverance from sin via a covenant meal [Passover, the &#8220;Lord\u2019s Supper&#8221;] [Luke 22:14-20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>20. Moses gave the Israelites sweet, &#8220;living water&#8221; to drink [Exodus 16:25].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus promised living water to all who believe in Him [John 7:38].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>21. God revealed His healing power through Moses [Exodus 15:26].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God revealed His healing power through Jesus [Matthew 4:23].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>22. Moses gave God\u2019s people bread from heaven to eat [manna] [Exodus 16:15].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus said that He was the true BREAD from HEAVEN that gives life to the world [John 6:33].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>23. The whole congregation of Israel murmured against Moses [Exodus 15:24].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; The Jews murmured at Jesus [John 6:41].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>24. Moses told the people to gather MANNA every morning \u2013 daily bread [Exodus 16:20-21].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus taught His disciples to feed their souls with spiritual bread daily [Matthew 6:11].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>25. People were ready to stone Moses [Exodus 17:04]<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; People were ready to stone Jesus [John 10:31].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>26. Moses received God\u2019s Law on a mountain and told the people what God expected of them [Exodus 9:03].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus set the Law back in its proper place on a mountain [Matthew 5:01]. [The Sermon on the Mount.]<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>27. God came to Moses in a thick cloud [Exodus 19:09; 24:16].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God came to Jesus on the [Matthew of Transfiguration in a thick cloud [Mark 9:07].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>28. Moses sprinkled the blood of the first covenant on the people [Exodus 24:08].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus sanctified the people with his own blood, the blood of the NEW COVENANT [Hebrews13:12].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>29. God gave Moses commandments to teach His people [Exodus 24:12].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God gave Jesus commandments to teach His people [John 13:34].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>30. Moses interceded with God for Israel when He was angry with His people [Exodus 32:11-14].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus interceded with God on behalf of sinful man; He &#8220;made intercession for the transgressors&#8221; [Isaiah 53:12] and became the final sacrifice for sin [Matthew 20:28; Hebrews 7:25].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>31. God spoke with Moses face to face [Exodus 33:11; Numbers 12:08].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus had an intimate &#8220;face to face&#8221; relationship with God, His Father [John 14:31].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>32. Moses fasted for 40 days and 40 nights when he received the Law [Exodus 34:28].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights when He was tempted in the WILDERNESS [Matthew 4:01-02].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>33. Moses\u2019 face shone with the glory of God [Exodus 34:29].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus\u2019s face shone with the glory of God [Matthew 17:01-02].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>34. God told Moses how He wanted to be worshipped \u2013 the TABERNACLE [mishkan] [Exodus 40].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God told Jesus how He wanted to be worshipped \u2013 &#8220;spirit and in truth&#8221; [John 4:23-24].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>35. Moses, a prophet, was a mouthpiece for God. He spoke the words God gave him [Exodus 19:07-08].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus, as a prophet spoke the words that God gave Him [John 8:28-29].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>36. Moses COMMANDED the children of Israel to keep their lamps burning continually [Leviticus 24:02].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus COMMANDED His children to put their light on a lampstand and let it shine before men [Matthew 5:15-16].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>37. Moses fed the children of Israel [a multitude] in a supernatural way [Exodus 16:15].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus fed a multitude [5,000] with five loaves and two fishes [Matthew 14:19-21].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>38. Moses was faithful in God\u2019s house [Numbers 12:07].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus, the High Priest of our profession, was faithful to He who appointed Him [Hebrews 3:16].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>39. Moses beseeched God to pardon the iniquity of His people [Numbers 14:19].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus, on the cross, beseeched God to forgive the iniquity of those who were crucifying Him [Luke 23:34].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>40. God listened to Moses [Numbers 14:20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; God listened to Jesus [John 11:41-42].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>41. Moses said that the &#8220;little ones&#8221; in the WILDERNESS would enter the Promised Land [Numbers 14:31].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus said that the Kingdom of God belonged to the &#8220;little ones&#8221; [Mark 10:14].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>42. Moses told the Israelites to remember and do all the commandments of the Lord [Numbers 15:38-39].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus told His disciples to keep His commandments if they would abide in His love [John 15:10].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>43. Moses told the Israelites that God would show that He had sent Moses by doing signs and wonders [Numbers 16:28].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus told His disciples that the works He did were to prove that the Father was in Him and He was in the Father [John 14:10-11].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>44. Moses made a fiery serpent on a pole and the Israelites were healed when they looked upon it [Numbers 21:09].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus was lifted up on a pole. All who looked upon Him by faith [as He took their sin] were healed [John 3:14-15].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>45. Moses chose 12 men, 1 of each tribe and sent them out [to scout] to bring fruit [Deuteronomy 1:23].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus chose 12 men and sent them out to bear fruit [Matthew 10:01].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>46. Moses said that in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses a truth would be established [Deuteronomy 19:15].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus said that where 2 or 3 were gathered in His name, He would be in their midst [Matthew 18:20].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>47. Moses\u2019 relatives criticised and challenged him [Numbers 12:01-02].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus\u2019s relatives criticised and challenged Him [Matthew 13:57; John 7:05].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>48. Moses was Israel\u2019s judge, the final authority in decision-making [Exodus 18:21-22].<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>&gt; Jesus will return to earth as a judge.
